ATTN: AUSCPS executive and members
I write with regards the spam that has now overwhelmed the forum pages. In my opinion, the forum is a very valuable asset to our society. I check in nearly daily to see if I can be of assistance to anyone or otherwise correspond with fellow CP enthusiasts. I personally find the spam very irritating and disrespectful to the goodwill our society has extended to the CP community worldwide. Fortunately for us, there are measures available to eliminate spam. Upgrading the forum's signup and login security features (eg. use of CAPTCHA technology, or stronger), would go a long way to achieving a spam-free forum. I propose that the society considers the following: a.) Investigate ways to upgrade the security of our forum to bring it in line with contemporary security standards b.) Provide a detailed report on suggested forum upgrades, including costings, to the society members (preferably via snail mail)? c.) Vote as a society whether on or not we upgrade the forum. I would also like recognise the effort - most of which is not acknowledged - that our executive put into running our society. They will have invested a lot of time and effort into this forum, and allowing it to go to waste must be soul destroying, particularly for our forum administrator. I think that fixing the forum issues will support the efforts of our executive. This post is not intended to be a criticism of our society. Lke with any infrastructure, I appreciate that a web forum will occaisionally need maintenance and an upgrade. I merely write with the wellbeing and interests of our society in mind, and to support the CP community. If you support our society, and the forum, please respond with your thoughts on the spam issue (I give it less than 24 hours before this thread gets spammed). In the meantime, please DO NOT open purely spam threads or links from spam posted on our forum. Doing so only fuels the fire. Sincerely, and respectfully, A Concerned Member (Details suppressed to avoid spam).
